As I ponder the upcoming Holiday season I have visions of children dreaming of the great feast on Thanksgiving Day. Families gathering together to enjoy one another and the day of thanks. I see visions of backyard football games, people watching the Macy's parade...but then I see a vision that shocks me back into reality. A reality that a lot of parents and children will be facing on these wonderful days of celebration of an empty table and a bare Christmas tree. On the day that we give thanks to our heavenly Father for all He has done for us. Then on the day we celebrate the Birth of our Lord and Savior many will not be thankful or in a celebratory mood. I am reminded in John 12:3-8 When Mary annointed our Lord's feet with expensive oil and Judas in essence declared it a waste. He believed the oil should have been sold to raise money for the poor. 7 Jesus answered, “Leave her alone; she has kept it for the day of My burial.8 For you always have the poor with you, but you do not always have Me.”...I am also reminded of Scrooges words from Dickinson's A Christmal Carol...Aren't there any workhouses or poor houses left. When he was told that many would not rather go to the poor houses, Scrooge replied well then let them die and decrease the surplus population. Today's poor houses and workhouses are our shelters and yes many do a good job. But also there are many dangers for men, women and children in them. You see they are run by secular organizations and receive government funding. Because of this there are basically no screening of whom they accept in. As a result many do not feel safe in these places...
I am also reminded of what Jesus said in Matthew 25:40... what you have done to the least of these my brethren you also have done unto me....

Please come into my heart as my Lord and Savior. Thank you Jesus for forgiving my sins and saving my soul. I pray this to our Heavenly Father in your precious name...amen.

As I ponder the recent events that have been happening here in the United States I wonder when we as a Christian people are going to wake up. We have seen despicable acts of terrorism at the Boston Marathon as well as a horrible accident in Texas at a fertilizer plant. Just yesterday tornadoes struck North Texas (5/15/13) killing, injuring people and destroying homes and businesses. I guess what bothers me the most is the attitude of the church. I have heard people cursing the bombers and praying that God would kill them. I hear and read of the church being surprised at the devastation from storms such as Hurricane Sandy. I even read that the name Sandy will no longer be used in naming hurricanes. As if not using the name could possibly stop another horrific event.
We read of wars and rumors of war in Mathew 24:6, Mark 13:7, Luke 21:9. They all tell us that we need not to fear that not only will these come to pass but also famine and pestilence. Kingdom will rise against kingdom, families against families and nation against nation. The Word says that “these things must come to pass but this is not the end’. Nothing is going to stop the judgment of God on this world. That is why we as followers of Jesus Christ need to get back into the Word, get back to praying (2 Chron 7:14). So that God can heal our land. We need to realize though that healing entails destroying this sinful world and creating the new Jerusalem. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says “ if my people will seek my face and turn from their wicked ways…that’s the problem too many people believe that grace abounds no matter what. Without repentance there is no grace, Without grace there is no forgiveness,
Mathew 5:33 tells us to seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness…. Gods righteousness! Not what we want righteousness to be but what God wants it to be…. with out SIN! We as a nation and as a church need to turn from our sin and turn to the cross. Grace is not an excuse to sin, but it is a full pardon of our sin when we repent (turn away) from it.
We as a nation and the body of Christ need to stop cursing people because of their sin. We need to stop calling on God for retribution and we need to pray for their salvation…Matthew 5:43-45 (KJV) 43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. 44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; 45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
Jesus said in John 15:13 (KJV) 13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Jesus is not asking us to give up our physical life for our enemies but what He is asking us to do is to give up this worldly life for a heavenly life with Him forever…..by doing this we can fulfill John 15:13.
If you don't know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, let me take this opportunity to introduce you to Him. Just say this simple prayer: Dear Jesus, please come into my heart and forgive my sins. I know that you are the only way to salvation and eternal life. Thank you Jesus for forgiving my sins, I love you Lord and need your help to live the life you want me to. Amen.
If you said this prayer and accepted Jesus into your heart, welcome to the family. Let someone know what you have done. Share this wonderful experience with them.
